Taking photos of teens can either go good or bad. With a teen, there really is now middle ground. In my years of photographing teens in the Saratoga Springs, NY area, the #1 thing I have learned in making a good photo to making a great photo is that the teen must want their photo taken. If they don’t want get their photo taken, there will be no spark, no shine in the eyes in that photo. For me, I often will spend a little time getting to know this young person’s interests, plans for the future, etc. In the photos below, this teen was very easy to work with and had a great time talking about his plans for college.
